 BITCHES Judge Glenis Williams.

Thank you to SESS for the invitation and for making me so welcome. It is 5 years since I last judged the breed so all the bitches excluding veterans were new to me. I prefer to handle each exhibit so I an feel for construction rather than look on while a clever handler places legs etc. I am not a fault judge preferring to look for the positive attributes of the whole exhibit. I need to see and assess our lovely breed moving freely on a loose lead. From my entry I felt fronts are becoming a problem and there are still some ‘gay’ tails which for me spoils the topline. I was fortunate to have some top quality bitches to make my choices from particularly in the mature classes.

Minor Puppy BItch 7(1)

1. Golby’s Sorrodale She’s No Fool in Shadymore. 7 months tri, very much a baby, but pleasing in conformation, straight front, strong hindquarters, pleasing topline and tail carriage. Moved soundly when settled. Just needs to break in head and grow on.

2. Bryant’s Phenset Phoenix Rising. 3. Montgomery’s Radlake Firebird.

Puppy Bitch 6

1. Sykes Daraquist Maid in Devon.9 months orange, my notes say naughty but gorgeous. Sweet head with dark melting eyes, pleasing to handle, super front legs and feet, balanced nicely ribbed body. Strong quarters with a pleasing tail set. Moved soundly. I loved her.

DOGS Judge June Reed

My thanks to the Committee for a lively day and to the exhibitors for their beautifully clean, sparkling dogs. I found only a few dodgy mouths but far too many bad shoulders. These days it is almost impossible to end up with a line up of similar type but I was please with my winners.

Minor Puppy Dog 7 (1)

1. Dennis: Gemsett Dark Forces at Mariglen. Very balanced blue, correct in every way for age. Short coupled excellent bone, good feet, excellent topline, very appealing head and expression. Moved steadily and well.

2. Jones: Gemsett Gathering Fotce at Redbornstoke. Little brother of winner, very similar in most attributes, just slightly longer cast and not as balanced as yet. 3.Montgomery, Radlake Nijinsky

Puppy 11 Dog (2)

1. Morgan & Bott's Quensha Light My Fire. B.P.dog and BPIS. On a joint decision. Well put together orange, excellent sound mover front and aft with best of firm level toplines. Hard to fault, would just prefer a softer more expressive eye but overall quality made him outstanding in his class.

2.Day: Decovery Sandpiper. Slightly younger darker orange, smaller mould also oozes quality. Beautifully turned out showing of his elegant neck and shoulder line. Has got a lot going for him. 3. Young: Ingella Black Magic.

Veteran Dog 11

1. Wright: Wynacre Summer Gold. Orange, hard to believe 10 1/2 years old apart from some colour fading. Alert & active with a lovely head, soft appealing expression, obviously very at one with his handler. Still has a sound positive movement with a super head carriage. Good to see he still retains his good tight feet & full coat.

2.Devan: Carbine One Man. Lovely typy blue, giving away to age. Good head & kind soft expression, short coupled & well put together. Moved well & gave it his all. 3. Derry: Balvenie Paul Scarlet.

Junior Dog 3.(1).

1. Baker: Mandyset Prime Suspect. Very compact orange, appears smaller as he is very short in back and deep body. Most levely head & expression, excellent front assembly excellent in shoulders. Moved very well when he got his act together.

2. Young: Wansleydale Waterloo to Ingella. Blue, not the body of first, sweetest of heads, beautiful eye and expression. Gorgeous type of coat. I did not like the excess barbering of neck but that didn't influence my decision. Moved a little close behind.

Special Yearling Dog. 10.(1).

1. Littlechild & Davies:Ravensett Dark 'N' Dashing. Very smart and glamourous for such a dark blue. Excellent presentation & superb coat, Makes him a real eye catcher with much to like. Good depth & outline, head , expression & best of feet.

2.Mitchell: Tattersett Drummer Boy. Another lesson in presentation, pleasing head, good neck, a little upright behind so looking long in hock but moved positively & steadily, well deserved his place. 3. Cooper: Tremorgan Prince of Wales at Settrenda

Novice Dog 8

1.Repeat. Baker: Mandyset Prime Suspect:2. Repeat Day: Decovery Sandpiper. 3. Repeat Young: Wansleydale Waterloo to Ingella

Tyro Dog. 4.

1.Land: Tattersett Firebird. Orange, pleasing head, good overall appearance, slightly upright in front and looking immature.

2.Forman: Somoray pioneer. Slightly built blue, pleasing but a little upright in front. Good sweep of stifle & good level back & tail set.

Graduate Dog 10 (3)

1:Stephenson:Wistaston School Timesaver for Steeplow. Very appealing young orange, not a large one but well proportioned & balanced. Pleasing head with a kind eye & expression, looking a little cut up in loin at present but he is young with good potential. Well presented & handled

2.Repeat Mitchell: Tattersett Drummer Boy. 3. Dobbie: Moorbrook Prime Time

Post Graduate Dog 13 (4)

1. Derry: Balvenie What a Sensation. Young wery elegant orange, attractive head, masculine but not over-done, super expression, excellent clean neck & shoulder line, good positive steady mover.

2. Richards: Rubuscott Its All Over Now. Very dark blue, pleasing head, soft expression, well presented, good neck & shoulder line, level top line & good stifle.3.Young: Ingella Prarie Gold

Limit Dog 17 (4)

Superb class, dominated by two outstanding dogs. As I looked around I experienced the 'wow factor'. Hard to separate but on the day the winner had just the edge in sparkle.

1. Swannell: Rickory rave Review. Superb elegant blue with seemingly everything in the right place. Racy yet substantial quality refined head, deep chested, well ribbed, his outline flowed in all lines. delighted to award him I gather his third CC and thrilled on referees decision to make him B.O.B. & Best in Show.

2. Wale: Wansleydale Storm Magic. Narrowly beaten, another totally balanced elegant orange. Sure they will change places many times. I would be proud to own either - and preferably both. 3 . Mellish: Ownways Moving Shadow of Monbrec.

Open Dog 17 (4)

I have not seen a star-studded class like this in years, my decisions were almost by splitting hairs. None need much comment form me.

1. Williams: Sh Ch Bournehouse Royal Colours. RCC. Lovely type in full coat. He had to be special to win this class

2. Dennis: Sh Ch Wistaston School Breeze at Elswood. Another beatifully worthy title holder with exquisite head & expression to die for. Just lacking a little in furnishings to complete the picture. 3.Grimsdell: Tattersett Stockbroker

Special Beginner 3

1. Jolley: Bellesett Masterpiece of Jollymore. Orange, good dark eye, appealing head, level top line, would prefer slightly heavier bone.

2. Alexander: Merleycopse Perfect Gent of Alexator. Nice headed blue, happy to show, looking very immature and out of coat at present. 3.Reith: Mandyset Dirty Dancing.
