Sincere thanks to the Committee for the opportunity to award CC’s for the first time, to the exhibitors for entering under me and to my two superb, efficient stewards who kept everything running smoothly.

For me, it is still a concern to see so many dogs carrying their tails high, however, I was more than happy with my winners.

MPB 4

1. Seaman’s Mariglen Indigo 8 mths blue, in fabulous condition. Feminine throughout. Beautifully balanced outline. Loved her head and gentle expression, with correct eye shape and colour. Good lay of shoulder and strong topline. Neat feet. Steady on the move with lovely tail action, she covered the ground effortlessly. Should have a bright future ahead of her.

  BPB & BPIS 2 . Loakes’ Goldbirch Hearts Desire Very pretty tri with dark eye, giving a soft expression. Well balanced with long neck leading into well angulated shoulders. Straight front and strong back end. Her tail never stopped wagging! Preferred the more positive front movement of 1

3. Grimsdell’s Tattersett Dark Amber

PB 6 (2): 1. Dennis’ Mariglen Unwrapped Light tri. Very balanced outline. Nice head with dark eye and low set ears. Well angulated front with good reach of neck. Level topline. Used her tail well on the move. 2. Sharples’ Kanietter Viennese Whirl Mature tri coloured puppy with dark eye. Balanced throughout. Short coupled with firm, level topline. Well muscled. Preferred tail carriage of 1. 3. Wale’s Cyanina Golden Rose

1. Hartle’s Hartsett All My Lovin Pretty, feminine, elegant orange. Lovely head with dark eyes and kind expression, with well set ears. Balanced outline. Good reach of neck. Moved well, using her tail. Carrying a little too much weight today.2. Stephenson’s Lakecastle Kashmiri at Wistaston Light tri with lean head and dark eye. Good depth of chest. Short coupled with good back end. Not as positive on the move as 1.

1. Dennis’ Mariglen Unwrapped 2. Hilditch’s Barleymoats Summer Breeze Well grown dark blue, with nice head and dark eye. Level topline. Lovely neat feet. Didn’t move her best today.

YB 3

1. Tompsett’s Leilasett Northern Lights Over Radbrooks Dark orange. Balanced outline. Pleasing head with low set ears and gentle expression. Nice width to front. Lovely back end with well bent stifles. In hard condition, positive movement, using her tail.2. Grimsdell & Stewart’s Tattersett Rainswept Pretty headed blue. Balanced outline. Needs more coat to complete the picture. Strong, positive movement. Preferred tail carriage of 1.3. Whiting & Grant’s Tattersett Frankel’s Storm at Ormstiga

1. McCabe’s Rachdale Ribbons of Pearls Orange female. Lean head with dark eye giving a soft expression. Good bone and substance. Shoulders well angulated with good rear angulation. Tail well set on, which she used on the move. Out of coat today.

PG 5 (1)

1. Tucker’s Walshaw Centre Stage Dark orange with flowing outline. Straight front. Well angulated shoulder. Good spring of rib and short coupled. Excellent topline. Nicely shaped, strong quarters with good bend of stifle. Well muscled. Didn’t put a foot wrong on the move. Strong, positive, driving action, using her tail well. RCC 2. Pitts’ Wandsfell Dream of Me Good head with dark eye and kind expression. Nicely balanced, short coupled with level topline. Tail well set on. Carrying a little too much weight today, which showed in her movement. Having said that, she is a very nice bitch, with lots to like. 3. Hartle’s Hartsett Lady In Grey

1. Grimsdell’s Tattersett Clever Cookie Lovely, elegant, flowing outline on this mature orange female. Good head proportions. Dark expressive eyes and good pigmentation. Excellent front with good depth of brisket. Moved with style, driving from her well angulated quarters, using her tail well. 2. Sharples’ Mariglen Serendipity at Kanietter Well balanced dark orange. Lovely head and expression with dark eye. Reachy neck leading into well angulated shoulders. Well turned, strong quarters. Moved well, but not as positive coming towards me as 1. 3. Buckley & Stubbington’s Tattersett Cool Roxy at Fishwick

1. Loakes’ Rachdale Painted Lace at Goldbirch Everything to like about this mature blue female. She completely filled my eye and was exactly what I was looking for. Exquisite head with dark eye and soft, melting expression. Perfectly balanced with clean, flowing outline. Clean through neck and shoulder and lovely front assembly. Well sprung ribs and good depth of brisket. Sweeping stifles. Well muscled, standing on neat feet. Moved positively with style and drive, with her head held high and lashing tail. Presented and handled to perfection. CC & RBIS 2. McCabe’s Sh.Ch. Rachdale Elegance JW Litter sister to 1. Elegant orange with good outline. Lovely head and expression with dark eye and good pigment. Excellent forehand with tight elbows. Well ribbed up. Moved well, using her tail. 3. Dennis, Morgan & Harris’ Gemsett Ice Cold In Alex at Mariglen

1. Beasley’s Wansleydale Amaretto Very pretty tri female. Res in a strong PG class. Balanced throughout with good angulation. Moved well with good tail action. Stands on neat feet. 2. Whiting & Grant’s Tattersett Frankel’s Storm At Ormstiga Orange female with lean head, nice expression with low set ears. Pleasing outline. Short coupled. Not as positive in front movement as 1.


Thankyou to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge the Memorial Stakes classes at this show. Thankyou to the exhibitors for their entries and presenting a quality group of setters, I enjoyed the experience very much.

SUNTOP MEMORIAL AWARD (Yearling Dog or Bitch) (12,4)

1st:- 77 Wood's Juldeane Prime Suspect. A mature 23-month-old Orange Belton dog, shown in lovely condition. A masculine head with dark eye, good reach of neck, flowing into well angulated shoulders. Moved well, balanced and with drive.

2nd:- 66 Tuckers Mariglen Night Wish for Walshaw. An attractive 11-month-old Blue Belton dog. Mature looking for age with a gorgeous well proportioned head, dark eye and appealing expression. Moved happily with lashing tail just not quite as balanced as first.

3rd:- Wale's Cyanina Golden Rose

 

SUNTOP MEMORIAL AWARD (Open Dog or Bitch) (15,5)

1st:- 21 Harris's Bridgella's First Edition with Konakakela. A striking Orange Belton dog with a super head and masculine expression. Lovely well proportioned body shape, good spring of rib and good angulation throughout. In great coat and condition, good firm muscle overall with firm second thigh, moved very well with plenty of drive and correct tail carriage. A picture on the move which clinched first place.

2nd:- 51 Schoneville and Derry's Balvenie Blue Sensation. A Blue Belton dog who pushed number 1 from the outset. At only 2 years old is surprisingly mature. A well proportioned head with good reach of neck, well angulated shoulders and good turn of stifle, shown in lovely condition. Moved happily with just a little less drive than first.

3rd:- 55 Sharples Mariglen Serendipity at Kanietter
