The English Setter Joint Breed Clubs Criteria for Judging Lists 2009 A1 List People already approved by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in English Setters and who have completed their first such appointment at the time of preparation of this list. A2 List People who meet the minimum criteria for the A3 List, and who have satisfied The Kennel Club procedure for the A2 judges list of being assessed at least three times by an approved assessor from the official KC breed list. Judges whose names appear on the B List or above may ask to be assessed when judging the breed at Open show or Breed Club Limited show level or at a seminar/breed club assessment day. Further information on the assessment process can be obtained from any of the Breed Club secretaries. A3 List People who would be supported by the Breed Clubs and at the JJC discretion to award Challenge Certificates in English Setters if so invited to do so. The minimum criteria for this list is:-   BREED SPECIALISTS • To have "gone over" 225 English Setters • To have judged 40 classes of English Setters, with a wide geographical spread • The KC requires a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and to have the support of the Breed Clubs. •To have judged both sexes at a Breed Club Show (w.e.f. 1st January 1999) • To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the KC Stud Book (save exceptional circumstances) • To have stewarded at 12 shows • To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. The English Setter Breed Clubs consider Module 3 of the English Setter Judges Training Course to be the relevant breed specific seminar for the A3 list. • To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures • To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on "Conformation and Movement" • To have attended and passed a "hands-on assessment" given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer Note: The number of dogs bred or owned and recorded in the KC Stud Book will be taken into consideration.   ALL-ROUNDERS (NON-SPECIALISTS) (Defined as people who award CC's in at least one other Gundog breed) • To have awarded CC's in one other Gundog breed • To have "gone over" 225 English Setters • To have judged 40 classes of English Setters, with a wide geographical spread • To have 7 years judging experience, including 5 years experience judging English Setters and have the support of the Breed Clubs. • To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the KC Stud Book (save exceptional circumstances) • To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable. The English Setter Breed Clubs consider Module 3 of the English Setter Judges Training Course, or a Gundog Group Development Seminar relating to English Setters, to be relevant breed specific seminars for the A3 list. • To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures • To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on "Conformation and Movement" • To have attended and passed a "hands-on assessment" given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer B List People who are approved by the Breed Clubs and at the JJC discretion to judge English Setters at Open Shows and at Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates. The minimum criteria for this list is:-   BREED SPECIALISTS • To have "gone over" 50 English Setters •To have judged 20 classes of English Setters, with a wide geographical spread • To have 5 years experience of judging the breed (i.e. from the first appointment) • To have passed Module 2 of the English Setter Judges Training Course • To have stewarding experience at a minimum of 5 shows • To have attended and passed a "hands-on assessment" given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer   ALL-ROUNDERS (NON-SPECIALISTS) (Defined as people whose main breed is not English Setters) • To have "Gone-Over" 50 English Setters • To have judged 20 classes of English Setters, with a wide geographical spread • To have 5 years experience of judging the breed (i.e. from the first appointment) • To have passed Module 2 of the English Setter Judges Training Course. • To have stewarding experience at a minimum of 5 shows • To have attended and passed a "hands-on assessment" given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer C List People who do not qualify for the "A" or "B" lists, but who are aspiring judges and have the confidence of the Breed Clubs and at the JJC discretion to judge up to 3 classes at an Open Show. The minimum criteria for this list is:-   BREED SPECIALISTS • To have shown an active interest in the Breed and have the support of the Breed Clubs • To have passed Module 1 of the English Setter Judges Training Course, or to have judged (hands-on) 10 or more English Setters • To have attended and passed a "hands-on assessment" given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer   ALL-ROUNDERS (NON-SPECIALISTS) (Defined as people whose main breed is not English Setters) • To have demonstrated an active interest in the Breed and have the support of the Breed Clubs • To have passed Module 1 of the English Setter Judges Training Course, or to have judged (hands-on) 20 or more English Setters plus 30 or more dogs in another gundog breed, or to have already awarded CC's in one other gundog breed • To have attended and passed a "hands-on assessment" given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer   Agreed by the JJC on 10th January 2009
