Junior 4 (1) 1. Wolmersdon Colour Magic - One year old dark blue belton bitch. Correct scissor bite and balanced head. Elegant long neck. Very good rib cage and tail set. Good bone and tight feet. Liked her length of leg and bend of stifle , gave her a balanced outline, and her lovely coat and condition completed the picture. Moved well using her tail. 2. Fisher's Beechhanger Wagtail

Very promising light blue baby of six months, good bone, refined head, dark eye resulting in kind expression, well laid shoulders, strong pasterns, neat feet, well muscled second thigh, moved soundly in excellent coat and condition. 2nd. Seven month old blue belton and tan, masculine head yet not coarse, mild expression, good depth, plenty of bone, longer cast than 1 so not quite as balanced at the moment, however a promising youngster. 3rd. Mature dark orange of quality, masculine head yet not overdone, darkest of eyes mild expression, arched neck into oblique shoulders, elbows well let down, deep brisket, good round bone, moved with drive, from strong muscular hindquarters, presented to perfection, he kept his topline on the move, tail slashing. 2nd. Graduate Dog 5. 1st. WRIGHTS’ FISHWICK DANCING LAD. This handsome orange dog, filled my eye, true melting setter expression, well defined stop, long neck into oblique shoulders, elbows well let down, well ribbed up, correct angulation fore and aft , gave his handler a hard time, but his place could not be denied, pressed hard in the challenge .I am sure when he matures he will trouble the best. 2nd. ARKLEYS’ HARTSETT POETRY IN MOTION. Glamorous light blue, longer cast than 1, mild and expressive dark eye, devoid of any coarseness, level topline, in full coat, well defined second thigh, neat feet moved with drive as expected with a lively slashing tail. 3rd. I was looking for elegance, and this dog epitomizes it, clean in outline, a dark blue of quality, masculine head, fine chiselling, and well defined stop his dark eyes gave the desired mild expression, arched neck into well laid shoulders, level topline correct depth of brisket, well ribbed up, neat feet, turn and bend, well muscled suggesting endurance and ability to go all day, therefore moved soundly with drive, head naturally carried high, level tail slashing, his furnishings completed the picture, I was delighted to award him the C.C his third,. and B.O.B. 2nd. Worthy Sh Ch who could show the youngsters how it should be done, handsome head, and dark eye, excellent body properties, he moved with verve and drive like a setter half his age, kept his topline on the move he belies his eleven years, in such fine fettle, a real credit to his owners. 3rd. I have never seen this youngster look better, she is maturing into a lovely bitch, dark eye, bright mild expression, long neck into excellent lay of shoulder, well sprung ribs and deep brisket, moved well with drive, her glamorous coat completed the picture. 2nd. NORMANSELLS’ LARRENIE BROWN SUGAR. Just out of Puppy, this young lady oozes quality, feminine head, dark eye, kind expression, arched neck into oblique shoulders, long upper arm, short couplings, level topline good bend and turn of stifle, had to give way to 1 on maturity. 3rd. JENNINGS’ KERRIMERE COVER GIRL TO CANTERIS.

Yearling Bitch. 7 [1abs] 1st. GRIMSDELLS TATTERSETT DOUBLE FLORIN. Well balanced classy young lady, long lean head, well defined stop, mild expression, long neck into well laid shoulders, on the move she kept a level topline, her long upper arm giving her the desired reach, and with her wide strong loins, and correct bend of stifle, she was driving from her hocks, therefore covering the ground with very little effort. 2nd. RICHARDS’ DECOVERLY SWEET CAROLINE WITH RUBUSCOTT. Feminine orange, bright mild expression, dark eye, oblique shoulders, excellent good round bone, neat feet moved soundly, well presented just not quite as animated as 1 on the move. 3rd. HEWITTS’ TATTERSETT DOUBLE ACTION.

Graduate Bitch 3 1st. HARRIS’ WALSHAW MOONDUST. Beautiful dark blue, well defined stop and the darkest of eyes, long neck into well laid shoulders good round bone, wide slightly arched loins, good bend of stifle, not in her best coat, but could not be denied her place as her quality standing, and on the move was obvious. 2nd. MONTELLS’ CULVERWELL CASSANDRA Slightly heavier type than 1, yet well balanced, lovely head with well defined stop, deep in brisket good round widely sprung ribs, and elbows well let down, short level back, in good coat, moved with drive. 3rd. REITHS’ OWNWAYS TOUCH N TELL.

CROFTS’ RAVENSETT DARK N DELICIOUS WITH THISTLESETT This dark blue has matured into a lovely lady, she presents a picture of true femininity, beautiful head with the darkest of eyes, mild expression, long arched neck into oblique shoulders, level topline, good bend and turn of stifle neat feet, and in her best dress today, she moved well covering the ground. 2nd. SYKES’ FISHWICK KOKO KABANA DARAQUIST. Elegant blue belton and tan, clean in outline, feminine head, with a well defined stop, well laid shoulders, deep brisket, correct bend of stifle, strong muscled hindquarters, she moved well covering the ground, effortlessly. 3rd. This dark orange bitch had substance, yet retained her feminine appeal, darkest of eyes, true setter melting expression, long feminine, yet muscular neck, into correct lay of shoulder, deep brisket, and good spring of rib excellent bend and turn of stifle, condition and muscle tone was first class, therefore she moved with drive, and purpose covering the ground her tail slashing, she pulled out all the stops, in this very strong class, I was delighted to award her the C.C., her third, a very worthy Sh Ch. 2nd. COCKETTS’ HOLLYGROVE SECRET LOVE. This ultra feminine blue, oozes quality, well defined stop, dark eye, mild expression, and fine chiselling, oblique shoulders, short level back well defined second thigh, she moved with purpose covering the ground tail slashing, however 1 was on top form today. 3rd. TUCK AND CURTIS’ COULDORAN CATTLEYA.

Open Bitch 10 [3abs]. 1st. COCKETTS’ SH. CH. HOLLYGROVE PENNY PUZZLE JW. Quality bitch out of the top drawer, so clean in outline, exquisite head, darkest of eyes, melting expression, well laid shoulders, short couplings, level topline held on the move, stifles well bent in hard muscular condition, she covered the ground effortlessly, very unlucky to meet the C.C. winner in such top form, no hesitation in awarding her the R. C.C. 2nd. HARRIS AND DENNIS’ MARIGLEN PRINCESS ROYAL AT GEMSETT. Sound, very honest young lady of quality, well defined stop and expressive eyes, long neck into oblique shoulders, long upper arm, good round bone, deep in brisket, level topline excellent bend of stifle, beautifully presented in full coat, moved soundly. 3rd. In beautiful coat and feather to complete the picture. Enthusiastic on the move, needs a bigger ring to really show himself off. BoB and really pleased to hear he went BIS. 2. A big thank you to all those who came to give me their support on this my first judging appointment, also to the English Setter people who just came to have a day out. It was nice to have so many familiar faces around on what was a very bad weekend, weather wise.

Junior (5-1ab) 1. Cozens' Larrenie Bonny Lass for Earldoms o/b bitch. 15 mths old. Nice head, lovely soft expression, long muscular neck, good angulation, well ribbed. Used her tail well and keep her top line on the move. 2. Birch & West's Quensha Healing Hands o/b bitch of just 6mths, beautiful head and expression, good shoulders and hindquarters, level top line, good tail set move well. Absolutely right for a puppy of this age, this little girl should do well . BPIB 3. Loakes' Goldbirch Guys n Dolls.

Yearling (3, 2ab) 1. Hewett's Tatterset Double Action tri/bitch 20 mths old, nice compact bitch with a very feminine head, good front angulation, firm feet and deep rib cage. Moved well.

Post Graduate (6, 3 ab) 1.Thompsett. Radbrooks Wild Honey. o/b bitch 2 yrs old. Nice eye and head with a sweet expression, firm long neck, well laid shoulders. Deep rib cage, nicely rounded stifles with a firm second thigh, correct tail set. Move with drive. B.O.B. 2. Reith's Ownways Touch N Tell. 3. Scott's Bournehouse Royal Prince, This was a lovely dog, and could do well if the owner and dog had some ring craft training.

Beautiful masculine head with a soft expression, nice neck, good front angulation with a deep chest and well sprung rib cage, good bend of stifle, nice tight feet. Graduate (5,2 ) 1. Harris’ Walshaw Moondust. Sound feminine blue bitch, such a pretty head, dark eye with sweet expression. Balanced angulation front and rear. Good spring of rib and level topline. Post Graduate (5,4) 1. Howell’s Papplesett Dawn Star. Tri bitch, another very pretty girl, appealing head and kind expression, nicely angulated front and rear. Good spring of rib. Presented in clean condition. Didn’t really want to move today.

Open (4,2 ) 1. Slack’s Ravensett Dark Fire. Quality blue. Judged him when he was younger and liked him then, maturing into a beautiful dog, gorgeous head and soft expression, dark eye, reachy neck flowing correctly into well laid shoulders. Thank you for a lovely entry at this show it was a pleasure to be invited to judge these Memorial classes. One comment one or two of the dogs in the first class need more exercise to build up muscle on the hindquarters.
